The Purong crossover has begun! Filipino / Asian street fashion is crossing over into western contemporary culture.
Check out the Vice Legends video as Yolandi Visser and Ninja of Die Antwoord adopt the Purong/Ninja style!
To see my documentary photography project on Purong visit
I am 100% sure that my
Purong documentary photography project will inspire the next big fashion trend on the catwalks of Paris, London, Milan and New York :)
The Purong look has already been appropriated by Die Antwoord. See the Vice legends animation featuring the appropriately named Ninja
To keep the momentum going I asked my partner to put together a quick how to do the Purong/Ninja gallery ( Thanks Samelyn & Jhunjie).
Its a pretty straightforward look to accomplish. Any questions let me know.
My long term documentary photography project on
Baskitan ( Basketball in the Philippines) was featured on National Geographic as photo of the day and for the month of March.
I have amassed around 500 plus shots of makeshift basketball courts
around southern Cebu, Philippines some of which can be seen here.
The Basketball project is itself part of a decade long project documenting typologies in South East Asia.
Other subsets of this long term photographic series include an International Photography Award winning fine art photography project on
electricity cables in Thailand, a documentary on the red light district in Pattaya, Thailand that feautred in Vice and most recently a series on Islam inspired street fashion in Cebu Philippines, called Art of the Purong.
I am currently back in
London, England and working on several new documentary and fine art photography projects.
